Send Critical Information to Freight Drivers to Increase Safety
uFollowit™, an innovative new load tracking and proof of delivery service, announced today that customers can now send mission-critical freight information directly to the driver cell phone via SMS. SMS, or Short Message System, is a mobile phone communications protocol. Also known as “text messaging”, SMS allows freight carriers and brokers to send information directly from the uFollowit™ administrator console to the driver. “The benefit of this new capability is important to businesses in the motor freight industry”, says uFollowit™’s Vice President of Sales, Danny Dever. “Heavy truck drivers can now receive freight information without having to pick up the phone, answer a call, take notes, or otherwise perform unsafe activities while driving. Because of this service addition, drivers can receive information about load pickup directions, dock number changes, route issues, customer contacts, safety issues – anything that driver’s need to know to perform safely and efficiently in the delivery of the customer’s freight”, says Mr. Dever.
In addition to SMS capabilities, uFollowit™ users can see where the freight is in-route through their web console. By accessing the uFollowit™ secure site, freight carriers, consignees, shippers, and brokers can visually see the load status, without having to call the driver to ask “Where’s my freight?” “This further increases driver safety”, says Mr. Danny Dever, especially since many states no longer allow cell phone use while driving. The driver can focus on what he does best – driving safe.
